Courthouse Roof is Really "Cool"

16x9 video

GSA installs solar electricity panels and cool white roof at Dole Courthouse.,  Length 0:57

A "cool roof" and solar electricity panel project was completed at the Robert J. Dole U.S. Courthouse in Kansas City, Kansas. The new roof features more than 200 solar panels that generate on-site renewable electricity, and a surface that reflects sunlight and helps keep the building cool. The $1.6 million roof project was part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  With a lifespan of 20-30 years, the new roof replaces one that is 16 years old.  Using Recovery Act funds, an additional $3.1 million is also being invested in the courthouse's infrastructure.
