GSA, OMB Host First Interagency Slam
On Federal Acquisition Regulation Process

Johnson and Office of Federal Procurement Policy Administrator Daniel Gordon recently challenged key federal agency partners in the Federal Acquisition Regulation rule-making process to set their sights on bold, new ways to improve product quality, timeliness and transparency of the FAR process. GSA hosted the first interagency, Federal Acquisition Regulation “slam” – a tightly focused recommendations and decision-making session on Feb. 9. The slam was groundbreaking in its ability to spur an interagency work force, beyond the walls of GSA, around FAR process improvements and business process redesign efforts that mirror the collaborative nature of the rule-making process. The Federal Acquisition Regulation governs the acquisition of supplies and services by federal agencies. The regulation is issued and maintained jointly by the secretary of defense, administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration, and administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
