SAN DIEGO, May 12, 2011 – More than 4,000 attendees met in San Diego this week to fulfill Administrator Martha N. Johnson’s call to “inspire, innovate, and interact” at the GSA Training Conference and Expo.

A variety of new and innovative ideas, technologies, and products and services were discussed and examined during the three-day conference. The plenary and training sessions, agency meetings and informal meetings on the Expo show floor were notable for a pervasive spirit of interaction, collaboration, and partnership.

From opening keynoter, Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak, who shared stories as one of the country's top innovators, to one-on-one discussions in the halls, Expo offered innumerable opportunities to learn and share.  

This year's Expo offered a number of firsts. Dozens of attendees took part in GSA's new ExpoFit program, which promoted healthy habits and exercise. With the government's stepped-up activities in telework and mobile work, the conference also featured several new opportunities to learn about tools and techniques to improve the mobile work experience for employees, managers, and organizations.

Also noteworthy was GSA's Excellence in Acquisition Awards program, which honored the exceptional accomplishments of acquisition professionals within GSA and across the federal government. Acquisition professionals were hailed as the unsung heroes of government who play a key role in delivering best value to the American taxpayer.  

The GSA Office of Integrated Technology Services Network Services Conference was collocated with Expo for the first time this year, providing a unique opportunity to attend training at both events.  

Next year’s Expo will be in San Antonio.
