Tuberculosis Laws and Policies
Tuberculosis (TB) is an airborne infectious disease that is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Approximately 11,000 to 12,000 individuals develop TB disease annually in the United States and there are about 9 million new TB cases worldwide each year. Laws to prevent and control TB have been in use for more than a century, and remain highly relevant today. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in cooperation with its partners, developed or facilitated development of law-related resources for use by states, localities, and tribes to prevent and control the spread of TB. These resources can be accessed and downloaded from this page for immediate use.
