Products Harmonized by the European Union

Fresh/frozen red meat and poultry, meat and poultry products, game meat, products for pet food manufacture and pharmaceutical processing, ships' stores, and certain other products intended for export to countries which are members of the European Union must follow the "European Union Requirements" found elsewhere in the FSIS Export Library. The following countries are members of the European Union: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

Products Not Harmonized by the European Union
  1. For SRM statements for all ruminant products intended for export to France, see bilingual French SRM statements.*
  2. Product samples not for sale:
    1. Meat and poultry and meat and poultry products intended for entry at a food show exposition are eligible from any federally inspected establishment. The product must be certified as indicated below. These certificates attest that the product complies with the animal health requirement of the EU. Currently there are no animal health restrictions on U.S. meat and poultry exports to the EU.
    2. Obtain FSIS Form 9060-5 and the appropriate bilingual letterhead certificates indicated below. The USDA export stamp indicating the certificate number should be applied next to the veterinary signature on each page of the letterhead certificate. This ink stamp and the signature should be applied in a color other than black.
      1. Fresh beef bilingual letterhead certificate in English and French. See the Guideline in the EU requirements for assistance in completing this certificate.
      2. Fresh pork bilingual letterhead certificate in English and French. See the Guideline in the EU requirements for assistance in completing this certificate.
      3. Fresh poultry bilingual letterhead certificate in English and French. See the Guideline in the EU requirements for assistance in completing this certificate.
      4. Meat and poultry products bilingual letterhead certificate in English and French. See the Guideline in the EU requirements for assistance in completing this certificate.
