Reshaping Health Care: Best Performers Leading the Way
Findings from the 18th Annual Towers Watson/National Business Group on Health Employer Survey on Purchasing Value in Health Care highlights that employers are acting aggressively in response to the shifting health care landscape. Employers remain committed to providing active employee health care benefits but are continuing to seek strategies to managing rising costs, improve health care delivery and worker health while still complying with health care reform.

The Consumer Health Mindset
Aon Hewitt, the National Business Group on Health and The Futures Company surveyed more than 2,800 employees and their dependents covered by employer health plans to determine their perspectives, behaviors and attitudes towards health and wellness. Survey results show that employees don't have accurate perceptions of their personal health, and they significantly underestimate the portion of their health care costs paid by their employers. However some employer strategies-such as the use of account-based plans and specific health and wellness programs-appear to be effective in motivating employees to take action to better understand and improve their health.
