LIVESTRONG

CDC supports the development and distribution of cancer survivorship materials through the LIVESTRONG National Cancer Survivorship Resource Center. Materials for cancer survivors, including their family members, friends, and caregivers, address the physical, emotional, and practical issues that may arise after a cancer diagnosis—

  • The Young Adults with Cancer podcast series shares experiences and advice from adolescent and young adult cancer survivors.
  • The Living After Cancer Treatment brochure series is a culturally relevant, easy to read introduction to survivorship.
  • On the Cancer Support Web site, people can read about their cancer concerns, learn what to expect during their cancer experience, what questions to ask, and where to find help.
  • A Web site in Spanish.
  • The LIVESTRONG at School curriculum provides kindergarten through high school professionals with a way to teach about cancer that is age-appropriate and empowering.
  • The SurvivorCare program offers one-on-one counseling services and help with financial, employment, or insurance concerns, as well as information about treatment options and connecting to new treatments in development.

Other National Partners

  • Community Media Productions created A Lion in the House, an Emmy® Award-winning Public Broadcasting System television documentary on childhood cancer, which follows five children of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. They also produced a Web site for survivors entitled Survivor Alert.
  • The Asian and Pacific Islander National Cancer Survivors Network develops culturally and linguistically competent and community-relevant cancer prevention and control activities for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. and Pacific Island Jurisdictions.
