Christine Eads

Spotlight on Women's Health

Interview With a Woman Who Overcame Two Traumas and Now Helps Others

By the time she was 31 years old, Christine Eads faced two blows to her reproductive and mental health. First, in her early 20s, she was violently sexually assaulted. Her attacker was never found. Then, a few years later, she was told she would never be able to have children due to primary ovarian insufficiency (POI). Despite this devastation, Christine uses her inner strength and past experiences to help others. Read her triumphant story and how she believes in family support and being a patient advocate.

What Women Want to Know

Highlights from the womenshealth.gov information and referral center

We received an email from a woman who believed she had a bladder or urinary tract infection. She had different symptoms over the course of a few weeks. She asked if she should go to the doctor. We told her that she should talk to her doctor and he or she would be able tell her if she had an infection. We also gave her the following publications with additional information on urinary tract and other infections.

America’s Plan for Better Health and Wellness: The National Prevention Strategy is Here!

On June 16, the Surgeon General and members of the National Prevention Council released the first ever National Prevention Strategy, a comprehensive plan to increase the number of Americans who are healthy at every stage of life. The National Prevention Strategy recognizes that good health comes not just from receiving quality medical care, but also from clean air and water, safe outdoor spaces for physical activity, safe worksites, healthy foods, violence-free environments, and healthy homes. Prevention should be woven into all aspects of our lives, including where and how we live, learn, work, and play. Everyone — businesses, educators, health care institutions, government, communities, and every single American — has a role in creating a healthier nation.
