National Back to Sleep Campaign
The Back to Sleep campaign began in 1994 as a way to educate parents, caregivers, and health care providers about ways to reduce the risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The campaign was named for its recommendation to place healthy babies on their backs to sleep. It has been successful in promoting infant back sleeping and other risk-reduction strategies to parents, family members, child care providers, health professionals, and all other caregivers of infants. This campaign is sponsored by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), First Candle/SIDS Alliance, and the Association of SIDS and Infant Mortality Programs.

The National Sudden Unexpected Infant/Child Death & Pregnancy Loss Program Support Center at First Candle
The National Sudden Unexpected Infant/Child Death & Pregnancy Loss Program Support Center at First Candle provides programs and services for professionals working in the Health and Human Service arena. The Program Support Center provides guidance and materials for educational efforts on reducing the risk of infant death as well as providing compassionate grief support to those affected by an infant death.

Sudden Unexplained Death In Childhood (SUDC)

It is the only organization worldwide devoted solely to the needs of families and professionals touched by unexplained death in childhood.

The American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) is a voluntary national, not-for-profit, independent professional certification board that has been established to promote the highest standards of practice for medicolegal death investigators.

The International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME)
The International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners is committed to advancing the accurate determination of the cause and the manner of death through the utilization of science, medicine, and the law.

National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME)
The National Association of Medical Examiners is the national professional organization of physician medical examiners, medical death investigators, and death investigation system administrators who perform the official duties of the medicolegal investigation of deaths of public interest in the United States. NAME has endorsed CDC’s Sudden Unexplained Infant Death Investigation training academies and curriculum.

The National Sheriffs' Association (NSA)
Chartered in 1940, the National Sheriffs' Association is a professional association dedicated to serving the Office of Sheriff and its affiliates through education, training, and information resources. NSA endorsed CDC’s Sudden Unexplained Infant Death Investigation training academies and curriculum.

National Center for Child Death Review (CDR)
The National Center for Child Death Review is a resource center for state and local CDR programs, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. It promotes supports and enhances child death review methodology and activities at the state, community, and national levels.

The National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) provides national leadership and contributes to the body of knowledge on cultural and linguistic competency within systems and organizations.

The National Conference of State Legislatures
The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance, and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. Several states have SUID-related laws that can be found here.

National Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Program
The National Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Program (NFIMR) is a collaborative effort between the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB). The NFIMR resource center can provide technical assistance in many aspects of developing and carrying out a FIMR program.
