Today's Fashion: What's "In" for a Healthy Style

Fashion comes and goes, but real healthy style comes from knowing how to protect your body. Below are a few tips to help you lower your risk for health problems in style.

Wear: Lower Risk For:
insect repellant
containing DEET
mosquito bites and West Nile Virus
long sleeves, pants, and socks mosquito bites and West Nile Virus


sunburn and skin cancer

wide-brimmed hats and sunscreen sunburn and skin cancer
helmets (i.e. bicycle, motorcycle, skates, rollerblades, football) traumatic brain injury
motor vehicle seat belts and restraints in child passenger seats injury
lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing heat-related illness
hat, scarf or knit mask to cover face and mouth, sleeves snug at the wrist, mittens, water-resistant coat and boots, several layers of loose-fitting clothing health problems from extreme cold
