The Civil Rights Division has a new collaborative detail program designed to allow Federal agency civil rights employees (from both civil rights offices and offices of general counsel) to work alongside Civil Rights Division (Division) staff on one or more cross-cutting Title VI coordination projects.

The Civil Rights Division offers competitive student volunteer internship positions in Washington, D.C. each academic semester, including the summer, for both law and undergraduate students. Interns gain a unique and exciting view of the work and mission of the Division.

Honors and Summer Law Intern Programs -- This highly competitive program is the only way that the Department of Justice authorizes Department components, including the Civil Rights Division (Division), to hire entry-level attorneys. Eligibility is generally limited to graduating law students and recent law school graduates who entered judicial clerkships, graduate law programs, or qualifying fellowships within nine months of law school graduation.

The Division will hire three individuals through this year's Attorney General's Honors Program. Candidates will be considered for placement in one of the following sections: Appellate, Disability Rights, Educational Opportunities, Employment Litigation, Federal Coordination and Compliance, Housing and Civil Enforcement, Office of Special Counsel for Immigration Related Unfair Employment Counsel, Special Litigation, and Voting. The Criminal and Policy and Strategy Sections will not consider Honors Program candidates this year. The Division will not participate in the 2012-2013 Attorney General's Summer Law Intern Program.
