Training Opportunities

The FEMA Private Sector Division, Office of External Affairs works with various training providers to develop and promote trainining opportunites strictly for the Private Sector. These offerings - whether self paced, in the classroom, or hands-on, are part of the Division’s vigilant efforts to incorporate the private sector across all stages of the emergency management mission, to leverage capabilities, and to enhance national preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation of all hazards. Below you will find a list of training providers and course offerings.

Emergency Management InsTitute

The Emergency Managment Institue conducts a variety of courses for local and regional public agency emergency managers and interested members of the public. These courses are intended to improve the level of national emergency responsiveness to all forms of man-made and natural disasters.

Center for Domestic Preparedness

Develops and delivers training for emergency response providers from state, local, and tribal governments and, when appropriate, the federal government, foreign governments, and  private entities. FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), located in Anniston, Alabama, is the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS)'s only federally chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training center.

National Training and Education Division

Serves the nation's first responder community, offering more than 150 courses to help build critical skills that responders need to function effectively in mass consequence events. NTED primarily serves state, local, and tribal entities in 10 professional disciplines, but has expanded to serve private sector and citizens in recognition of their significant role in domestic preparedness.
