April 2011---Employees at the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) are responsible for producing the debates of Congress in both online and print formats. GPO employees working in the early morning hours take an 10 inch raw manuscript and turn it into a half inch printed copy and digital files to be viewed online on GPO's Federal Digital System (www.fdsys.gov). Nearly 70 percent of the cost in producing the Congressional Record is in prepress--getting it ready to be posted online and printed.
