The 2012 United States Conference on AIDS

by AIDS.gov on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 10:13am ·

The United States Conference on AIDS, planned by the National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC), is taking place September 30 to October 4, 2012. The conference marks the 25th anniversary of its founding. The 2012 theme is “Ending the AIDS Epidemic.” We are focusing on providing technical assistance (TA) on using new media in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We wanted to share opportunities to engage with us at the conference.

Attend the tweet-up

We are hosting a social media meet-up on Sunday, October 30 at 6pm in the Abruzzi Room. It will be an opportunity for us to all meet and connect about how we are using social media in response to HIV, and in particular using new media to reach communities of color. Please invite your friends and colleagues! We're using hashtag #USCAGOESSOCIAL

Connect with AIDS.gov at Booth #328

  • Pick up hard copies of the 2011 HHS National HIV/AIDS Strategy Progress Report and the Viral Hepatitis Action Plan at the booth in the exhibit hall.
  • Get technical assistance. Visit our booth in the exhibit hall to get technical assistance (TA) on using new media in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We can help walk you through the NMAC HIV Prevention Goes Social Workbook.
  • Try out our Facing AIDS App. Now participating in the Facing AIDS photo initiative is easier than ever. Download and use the AIDS.gov Facing AIDS App for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch (and access on your Android device too). To put an end to stigma, share why you are Facing AIDS for World AIDS Day (Dec. 1) and/or support the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. Check out last year’s Facing AIDS photos for inspiration. We're taking photos at the booth, and giving out "I Faced AIDS" stickers out to those who participate!
  • Download the Locator App. The HIV Testing and Care Services Locator is now available as a free app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Use your location to locate HIV testing sites and care services near you.
