Welcome!

"The American people have always recognized that education is one of the soundest
investments they can make. The dividends are reflected in every dimension of our
national life - from the strength of our economy and national security
to the vitality of our music, art, and literature."

President Jimmy Carter, State of the Union Address, January 16, 1981

WELCOME to the education pages of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum. If you are an educator, student, or parent of a student looking for instructional materials on the life, times, and administration of our nation's 39th president, you have come to the right place. While the site is divided into sections for teachers, students, administrators, and education partners, you may want to take a quick glance at all of the sections if you don't initially find what you are looking for on "your" page.

The mission of the education team of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum is to provide quality educational materials and experiences to the students, educators, and public of the state of Georgia, the country, and the world. We do this by creating document-based curricular materials and offering educational programming in a nontraditional learning environment rooted in current best teaching practices, and tied to state and national learning standards

As the nation's official keeper of the materials of the administration of former president Jimmy Carter, it is our vision that all students will develop civic literacy, come to understand the vital role records and archives play in a democracy, experience museum-based learning about the American presidency, and learn the importance of Jimmy Carter's life and work to the State of Georgia, to the United States, and to the world.

We want everyone to be inspired by an engagement with the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. If you have any comments, complaints, or questions about the material you find here please feel free to contact me directly.

Enjoy your time in these pages, and then pay us a visit in person.

Best Regards
