* Educational Benefits for Servicemembers and Veterans
Servicemembers and veterans (and, in certain cases, their spouses and dependents) can receive educational benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Some states also have additional education benefits available for members of the National Guard.
G.I. Bill
- VA representatives are available by calling 1.888.GIBILL.1 (442.4551). If you are overseas, call 1.716.857.3196/3197. You may also contact a regional processing office.
- There are multiple programs available, and you may qualify for more than one program.
- For general information about the GI Bill and application procedures, visit the VA's G.I. Bill website or view the frequently asked questions about the G.I. Bill section.
Transcripts
Current and former members of the Army can receive transcripts of their military training from the Army/American Council on Education Registry Transcript System (AATRS). A similar service, the Navy Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript (SMART), is available to current and former members of the Navy and Marine Corps.
College Programs for Servicemembers and Their Families
Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) help servicemembers and their families get college degrees from civilian colleges and universities. Military students can take courses in their off-duty hours at or near military installations in the U.S., overseas, and on military ships.
