This seminar was part of the 2011 CDC-sponsored lecture series, "HIV/AIDS: 30 Years of Leadership and Lessons" and took place during the 2011 National HIV Prevention Conference, Atlanta, GA.

The program occurred on August 17, 2011.

The Closing Plenary will continue engaging and promoting the perspectives of a diverse range of champions from the first thirty years of the HIV pandemic. Like the pandemic, the story of AIDS community activism has evolved over the past three decades and community based organizations continue to reinvent themselves to address the needs of the people. This plenary will examine the evolution and mobilization of community leadership, advocacy, and activism to provide services and help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS. Additionally, attendees will be reminded of their many accomplishments and charged with a call-to-action to accelerate our collective efforts to meet the NHAS goals.

Panel members include:
Phil Wilson, BA, Executive Director, Black AIDS Institute

Marjorie Hill, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer, Gay Men's Health Crisis

Michelle Lopez, Chair, Board of Directors, NAPWA
