USCIS Launches Central I-9 on USCIS.gov

I-9 Central in Spanish: Transparent, Accessible and Usable
USCIS introduced I-9 Central in May 2011. Over 650,000 visitors have made use of this online resource. Now this one-stop shop for what you need to know about the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 is available in Spanish too on Central I-9!
U.S. employers are required by law to use a Form I-9 to verify the employment eligibility of everyone they hire, regardless of the new employee’s citizenship or immigration status. As a result, the Form I-9 is the most accessed form on USCIS.gov.
The new Spanish language I-9 Central, Central I-9, mirrors the English version of the site. The new site meets the needs of the Spanish-speaking community by answering common and complex questions about the Form I-9. Central I-9 makes it easy for employers to find information about completing the form correctly. The site will help users avoid common mistakes and understand the list of acceptable documents for confirming identity and employment authorization. It also includes information on the retention of Form I-9 and much more.
Users of the new Central I-9 website have access to the “Handbook for Employers: Instructions for Completing Form I-9 (M-274),”which was recently released in Spanish.  I-9 Central is updated frequently. Subscribe to Central I-9 to receive alerts.
Workers will find useful information on the site to help them prepare to complete Form I-9. There is also a section about employee rights and preventing discrimination. Workers can also visit E-Verify Self Check, a free service that allows workers and job seekers in the U.S. to check their own employment eligibility status online.
