Now Available: USCIS Releases Expanded Civics and Citizenship Toolkit
USCIS offers the Civics and Citizenship Toolkit to community organizations that assist immigrants aspiring to become U.S.
Today, USCIS is releasing an expanded edition of the toolkit, which now includes:
- A start-up guide for organizations who want to expand ESL, civics, and citizenship education
- Suggestions on how to use the toolkit in your community
- A short film about the naturalization process and test
- Civics Flash Cards, multimedia study tools, and much more
One free toolkit is available to immigrant-serving organizations. You can find a list of eligible organizations on our registration page. Interested individuals or organizations that do not qualify to receive a free toolkit may purchase a copy from the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) Online Bookstore.
For additional citizenship information and educational materials, be sure to visit the Citizenship Resource Center.

The only toolkit listed at the bookstore is the 2010 version, and it is back-ordered. Is that the correct one?
I have been in USA for more than 10 years, worked as a Federal Government employee for more than 2 years, and living as a LPR for more than 3 years. Please let me know if I can apply for a US Citizenship now. I noticed that a LPR living 2 and 1/2 years out of 5 years in USA may be qualified to apply for a US Citizenship.
Thanks for the toolkit but I agree with Hart. Is it back-ordered or the current one??
My organization registered for the toolkit, but never received a confirmation email about the order. How can I find out if the order has been processed?
Can you work as federal government employee while on LPR status? I thought you must be US citizen
Hart and Arjun: sorry about the confusion. The Civics and Citizenship Toolkit listed on the GPO Online Bookstore is the correct version. We are working with GPO to update their product list so it shows the 2011 version and they are in the process of filling their stock. could i have been a u.s. citizen if i have a signed birth certificate of a u.s.citizen father and that i was born outside the u.s. to a foreign mother?
I am a DOD civilian and I assist Soldiers and Family members with Citizenship and Immigration. Is there any way to get the toolkit for them without ordering threw the bookstor?

I'm an American citizen working as an ESL educator in Shanghai China, and I'm wondering if teachers such as myself are authorized to use the video component of the toolkit (A Promise Of Freedom) as part of a classroom lesson plan on American history. If we are, then I'm happy to simply play it off the USCIS.gov website. In other words, no need to send me the toolkit itself (I doubt that's even an option anyway haha). Please let me know, thanks!
