Welcome to the USDA Rural Development!  It is the mission of our agency to provide financial and technical assistance to rural individuals, families, communities, and businesses.

From home loans to water and sewer projects to financing police cars and low-income housing, Rural Development invested more than $1 billion into the economy of rural Michigan during Fiscal Year 2009.  We are committed to the future of Michigan's rural communities.

2011 Accomplishments

  • Helped 7,051 Michigan families purchase homes.

  • Provided rental assistance for 7,122 housing units.

  • Funded 84 energy efficiency projects.

  • Provided financial assistance for 28 community facility projects.

  • Financed sewer or water projects that helped 24 rural communities.
