U.S. Customs and U.S. Census Bureau issued a joint notice to Exporters, Freight Forwarders, Exporting Carriers, Department of Commerce District Offices, and Others Concerned regarding the Automated Export System (AES) Filing Requirements (PDF). Subjects addressed in the September 23, 2002 notice include Exemption Statements, Consolidated Shipments, Transportation Reference Number, Letter of Authorization, Licensed Shipments and Mandatory AES. U.S. Census Bureau issues Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Request for Comments in the Federal Register/Vol. 70, No. 32/Thursday, February 17, 2005/Proposed Rules, announcing proposal to require mandatory filing of export information through the AES or AESDirect for ALL shipments where a Shipper's Export Declaration (SED) is currently required.
