Message from DCR Executive Director: CBP Honors National Hispanic Heritage Month September 15, 2012
(Friday, September 21, 2012)
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is proud to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month that spans September 15 through October 15 to highlight the contributions of Hispanics throughout our nation’s history. This year’s National Hispanic Heritage Month theme is “Diversity United, Building America’s Future today.” This idea encapsulates CBP’s culture of honoring our heritage and celebrating the diversity of our workforce comprised of more than 60,000 dedicated employees who share a tradition of integrity in performing an admirable mission. Indeed, National Hispanic Heritage Month presents us with another opportunity to celebrate the work of both our frontline and mission support employees, which includes those of Hispanic heritage. We acknowledge their major role in ensuring our nation’s security and military defense as many have given their lives for this country so the next generation can embody the American dream and renew the hope of America. CBP employees are encouraged to participate in the National Hispanic Heritage Month activities at sectors and ports of entry throughout the nation. We strongly suggest that employees visit the Office of Diversity and Civil Rights (DCR) website for the gallery of events, view the slide presentation prepared for this celebration and check for activities in your area. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your local DCR Officer assigned to your area.
