Port of JFK and New York/Newark assist in Nationwide Recruitment efforts to fill CBP Officer Positions at the CUNY Big Apple Job Fair

On April 27th, 2012, The Port of John F. Kennedy International Airport and the Port of New York/Newark reached out to more than 5,000 City University of New York (CUNY) graduating students and alumni at the CUNY Big Apple Job Fair which is the largest career fair for CUNY. This event took place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

The CBP exhibition booth featured informational material geared toward the traveling public. CBP recruiters answered questions from potential applicants, discussed federal employee benefits and provided candidates with information about the online application process.

CUNY graduates and alumni stood in line to receive information about the CBP Officer vacancy announcement that opened April 12, 2012. The nation wide recruitment effort will acquire thousands of application to fill CBP Officer positions in the geographic locations of Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest borders.

The CBP representatives were Qumyka Howell, Entry Officer, John F. Kennedy International Airport; William Isetts, Supervisory CBP Officer, Newark Liberty International Airport and Howard Cheng, Supervisory CBP Officer, New York Field Operations. They joined together to help educate CUNY graduates about DHS invaluable mission of securing the nation. The CUNY Job Fair is unique in sourcing a diverse pool of applicants. CUNY students are remarkably diverse, tracing their ancestries to 205 countries.

The City University of New York, is a leading urban university in our nation, it comprises 11 senior colleges, six community colleges, a graduate school, a law school and a medical school. Nearly 200,000 degree credit students and 155,000 adult and continuing education students are enrolled throughout the five boroughs of the City of New York.
