2010 Census

2010 Census Summary File 1 — This file provides a number of detailed tables from the 2010 Census on age, sex, households, families, relationship to householder, housing units, detailed race and Hispanic or Latino origin groups, and group quarters. Most tables are shown down to the block or census tract level. Summary File 1 is the first 2010 Census release to include statistics for ZIP code tabulation areas. Tables cover for states, counties county subdivisions, places, census tracts, congressional districts for the 111th Congress and, where applicable, American Indian and Alaska Native areas and Hawaiian home lands. Some tables are repeated for nine race and Hispanic or Latino origin groups. The statistics are being released on a state-by-state flow basis for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. (Scheduled for release mid-June through August.)

How-To Webinar on the New American FactFinder — The U.S. Census Bureau will hold a webinar on Monday, June 20, 2011, at 1 p.m. (EDT) on the new statistics delivery tool, American FactFinder. This comprehensive 30-minute tutorial will demonstrate how to locate, access, manipulate, map and download Summary File 1 for states and other previously released 2010 Census statistics. The webinar will consist of a simultaneous audio conference and online presentation. Reporters will be able to ask questions during the audio conference once the tutorial is complete. Demographic

International Data Base — Which countries are among the top 10 largest in the world today? Which countries will be in the top 10 by 2050? The Census Bureau routinely updates its International Statistics Base, providing estimates and projections for 228 countries and areas around the world. This release updates information about the size, growth, fertility and net migration for 19 countries. (Scheduled for release in late June.)

Living Arrangements of Children: 2009 — This report examines the diversity of children's living arrangements in households in the United States and describes extended family households with relatives and nonrelatives where their presence may have an effect on the development and economic well-being of children. (Scheduled for release in late June.)

Selected Indicators of Child Well-Being: 2009 — Containing statistics from the Survey of Income and Program Participation, these tables provide a glimpse into how children younger than 18 spend their day. Subjects touched on include the degree of interaction with parents, participation in extracurricular activities, and academic experiences. (Scheduled for release in mid-July.)

Economic

2011 1st Quarter Summary of State and Local Government Tax Revenue — This summary shows quarterly tax revenue statistics on property, sales, license, income and other taxes. Statistics are shown for individual state governments as well as national-level estimates of total state and local taxes, including 12-month calculations. This quarterly survey has been conducted continuously since 1962. (Scheduled for June 28.)

County Business Patterns: 2009 — These statistics provide the only detailed annual information on the number of establishments, employees, and quarterly and annual payroll for most of the 1,100 industries covered at the national, state and county levels. For the first time, this information has expanded to include economic statistics for the four Island Areas — American Samoa, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Findings will be presented in a webinar news conference. (Scheduled for release June 30.)

Finances of Selected State and Local Government Employee Retirement Systems: 1st Quarter 2011 — This quarterly survey provides national summary statistics on the revenues, expenditures and composition of assets of the 100 largest state and local public employee retirement systems in the United States. These 100 systems comprise 89.4 percent of financial activity among such entities, based on the 2007 Census of Governments. This survey presents the most current statistics about investment decisions by state and local public employee retirement systems, which are among the largest types of institutional investors in the U.S. financial markets. These statistical tables are published three months after each calendar quarter and show national financial transactions and trends for the past five years. (Scheduled for release June 30.)

Economic Indicators — The Census Bureau releases statistics that provide monthly, quarterly and yearly updates on key measures of the nation's economic condition. Upcoming releases in June include quarterly financial report — retail trade, new home sales, advance report on durable good manufacturers shipments, inventories and orders. Current Industrial Reports (CIRs) — These statistics provide monthly, quarterly and annual measures of industrial activity. The 47 CIRs focus on groups of industries, such as textiles and apparel, chemicals, primary metals, computer and electronic components, industrial equipment and consumer goods and provide current and historical statistics on production and shipments of selected products. CIR statistics are used to satisfy economic policy needs and for market analysis, forecasting and decision-making in the private sector. Back to School — Now that summer vacation is arriving, the start of the 2011-12 school year can't be far away. This fact sheet presents statistics from demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to teachers, students and the reopening of our country's schools in late summer.

Labor Day (Sept. 6) — Labor Day is the yearly national tribute to the workers who have contributed to the well-being of our country. First observed in 1882, this federal holiday for many marks the end of summer. In observance of this holiday for workers, this fact sheet includes an array of demographic statistics about our nation's workforce.

2010 Census Population Profile Maps — June 13 — These maps present a graphic overview of selected demographic statistics from the 2010 Census. Each page includes a population density map by census tract, a pie chart showing the percent of total population by race, a population pyramid and a bar chart illustrating housing occupancy rates. The map series will consist of one page-size map for each state in the United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, as well as a national map. USA Counties — June 9 — Demographic, economic and governmental statistics from the Census Bureau and other federal agencies, presented for the purpose of multi-county comparisons or single county profiles. Contains both national and statistics are presented as well. The statistical files cover topics such as agriculture, crime, education, health, retail trade and vital statistics. New in this update are 2010 Census race statistics, statistics from the American Community Survey 2005-2009 estimates on topics such as ancestry, Internal Revenue Service statistics on individual taxes, and 2007 Economic Census statistics, including statistics from the Survey of Business Owners. School Enrollment in the United States: 2008 — June 8 — Contains detailed analysis of school enrollment levels and trends for the population 3 and older. This is the second report in the series in which the statistics are based on both the American Community Survey and Current Population Survey. Various demographic characteristics of students at each level of school are examined, as are topics such as children's relative progress in school, the drop-out rate, type of school and type of attendance. Survey of Business Owners: Characteristics of Businesses and Characteristics of Business Owners: 2007 — June 14 — National statistics on owner's age, education level, veteran status and primary function in the business; family- and home-based business; types of customers and workers; and sources of financing for expansion, capital improvements or start-up. Survey of Business Owners: Company Summary: 2007 — June 7 — These statistics provide estimates of business ownership by gender, ethnicity and race. The statistics cover employer and nonemployer firms and include sales and receipts, annual payroll and employment for 2007. Statistics are classified by industry, geography, employment and receipts size. These figures come from the 2007 Survey of Business Owners and summarize the individual statistical sets that have been issued over the past several months. Statistics for minority- and nonminority-owned firms are included in this release. Findings will be presented in a webinar news conference.
