Border Patrol Agent candidates are required to take and pass two Pre-employment Fitness Tests prior to entry on duty. To increase the chances of passing both Pre-employment Fitness Tests, review the information provided, engage in regular physical exercise and practice the PFT requirements on a gradual basis. Be sure to consult with your personal physician prior to engaging in a regular fitness program.

05/27/2010 The STEP TEST has been enhanced by increasing the bench height from a 12-inch to a 14-inch bench. Candidates will be required to perform 120 steps per minute on a 14-inch bench using an audio tape containing a constant beat and verbal cues to maintain cadence for five consecutive minutes. Please practice using the higher bench to increase your chances of passing the pre-employment Fitness Test.
