Anzalduas, Texas— Officers with Customs and Border Protection, (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Anzalduas International Bridge seized approximately $2,500,000 worth of alleged cocaine and arrested a man from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico on Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2012 CBP officers at the Anzalduas-Reynosa International encountered a white 2004 Lincoln Aviator driven by a 26-year-old Mexican male citizen from Reynosa, Tamaulipas. The driver and lone occupant presented his Mexican border crossing card to the CBP officer and was subsequently referred to secondary for a more thorough examination. In secondary officers discovered 28 packages of alleged cocaine weighing approximately 34.38 kilograms (75.79 pounds) that were hidden within the vehicle. CBP seized the cocaine which has an estimated street value of $2,426,000 and the vehicle as well.

“This significant load of hard narcotics was intercepted due to our officer’s excellent commitment to the CBP mission in keeping dangerous drugs out of our country,” said Efrain Solis Jr., Port Director, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas. “Being able to detect these types of narcotic loads and disrupting their flow is what we do to protect our communities.”
