Office of Scientific Professional Development

Scientists working together in a lab
Unprecedented breakthroughs in emerging areas of science, rapidly evolving technologies, and the globalization of FDA-regulated industry are having a profound impact on regulatory science and on the way the Agency conducts its mission.

To meet the demands and fulfill the promise of these 21st-century advances, FDA has designed a range of dynamic and innovative programs and activities, such as the Commissioner's Fellowship Program, collaborations with scientific institutions and academia, and scientific achievement awards.

The goal is to attract, develop, and retain highly skilled scientific and technical staff who can apply leading-edge expertise to modernizing or creating new regulatory pathways.

The Office of Scientific Professional Development leads and supports FDA efforts to recruit and foster top talent by providing innovative skills development programs to prepare our staff to successfully address the regulatory challenges presented by new areas of science and medicine.
