Latest Unemployment Press Release
March 18, 2013
"Vermont's economic recovery during 2012 was actually stronger than first reported.  The 2012 annual rate for Vermont was 5.0 percent which is one of the lowest in the country.  In January 2013, the positive trend continued as the state recorded an unemployment rate of 4.7%.  The Department is continuing to analyze the revised 2012 data to gain insight into what the future of the Vermont economy may look like.  Many Vermont employers cooperated with the Department's increased outreach efforts and that has helped to shorten the duration of unemployment for job seekers and provided important guidance to our educational institutions so that they can align student curriculum with Vermont's current and future economic opportunities."
Annie M. Noonan
Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Labor
