Chicago - Customs and Border Protection will produce a Spanish language episode of Chicagos Customs and Border Protection with Director David Murphy, on Friday, March 13.

CBP in Chicago currently produces a cable access program on Chicago Access Network Television or CAN-TV Channel 21 called Customs and Border Protection with Director David Murphy. It is a live, half-hour interactive television show which airs on Fridays at 4 p.m.

This program is aimed providing updated information to the current international traveler, future visitors of country and the general public. This weeks airing Friday, March 13 at 4 p.m., on CAN-TV Channel 21 will be the first show all in Spanish available to viewers within the city limits of Chicago.

This Spanish language show will feature Customs and Border Protection officers addressing the Know Before You Go international travel information. A Spanish-speaking phone technician will also be available for call-ins with questions or comments.

Guests from past shows include Customs and Border Protection officers who inform viewers about new jobs, travel tips, regulations as well as programs such as the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, which will become effective on June 1, at all land and sea borders. Other guests include representatives from related agencies such as US Citizenship and Immigration Services that addressed immigration fraud issues and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that focused on endangered and protected species.

This program is a must-see, said David Murphy, director of Customs and Border Protection in Chicago. It gives the community the opportunity to see the diversity within our organization as well as gives direct access to top Customs and Border Protection officials who can answer questions or hear viewer comments on programs that impact them. There is no other venue like this for communities in the entire nation. Each show is a win-win situation because as the community learns more about who CBP is and how we keep the country safe and secure; it helps to foster a meaningful and accessible relationship with the community we serve.

Other shows have included topics such as: National Recruitment of CBP Officers, Admissibility into the United States, Counterfeit Check Scams, Marriage Fraud, International Trade, Hurricane Relief Efforts, Human Smuggling, International Trade, 2009 Presidential Inauguration and the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
