Diversity Management

Diversity Management is a proactive effort to effectively respond to the changing demographic profile of the workforce and the marketplace it serves; the implementation of programs and services that recognize and support a diverse workforce (program-oriented).

ODMEEO Diversity Management Department focuses its efforts on fostering the development of a strategic framework in support of CDC’s Diversity Policy which is to ensure that diversity is an integral part of our day-to-day management and public health initiatives.

CDC/ATSDR strategic framework prioritizes nine (9) strategic diversity goal areas which are:

  1. Leadership Commitment
  2. Diversity Training
  3. Recruitment
  4. Retention
  5. Succession Planning
  6. Community Outreach
  7. Employee Involvement
  8. Special Emphasis Programs
  9. Organizational Assessments

What is Diversity?

Diversity is an appreciation and respect for the many similarities and differences in the workplace, including the varied perspectives, approaches and competencies of co-workers and populations we serve. Diversity is a resource that is fundamental to organizational excellence.
