Celebrating Diversity through Special Emphasis Programming

CDC’s Special Emphasis Programming enhances education and awareness about the historical and organizational contributions of various races, genders, ethnic, and cultural groups; as well as provides information on current workplace issues.

Through programming the agency can analyze and highlight factors affecting recruitment and advancement in alignment with the Affirmative Employment Program and the strategic management of human capital goals for HHS; and increases awareness of the relationship in the workplace to CDC’s Public Health mission.

There are six Special Emphasis Programs mandated by Executive Order or Public Law; each with its unique evolution.
