NIJ Conference 2010: Highlights

The NIJ Conference 2010, June 14-16, 2010, Arlington, Va.

Hundreds of researchers, policymakers and practitioners from the local, state and federal levels assembled for the annual NIJ Conference, June 14–16, 2010. Here they renewed relationships and shared findings from the most recent crime and criminal justice studies, exploring the implications of those findings for both practice and policy.

This year, an important emphasis was domestic and sexual violence research, with a special plenary session, "Celebrating 15 Years and Moving Forward Together," on the final day to mark the 15th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act.

Conference participants had many opportunities to attend workshops, to learn about new methods and technologies, to hear about promising research breakthroughs, and to participate in expert panel discussions.

The conference featured eight breakout session tracks:

  • Building Safer Communities
  • Corrections
  • Courts and Sentencing
  • Forensic Science (Policy)
  • Forensic Science (Technical)
  • Geography and Crime
  • Policing
  • Violence and Victimization
Date Created: July 15, 2010
