The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Agricultural Marketing Service’s Laboratory Division (AMSLD) is a full service chemistry and microbiology laboratory providing analytical testing to assist agricultural producers meet international regulatory requirements, domestic purchase specifications, and import product testing requirements. AMSLD offers a full range of food and fiber product testing services including nutritional labeling; testing for USDA organic compliance standards; detection of bacterial pathogens, food contaminants, genetically modified organisms, pesticide residues and veterinary drugs; aflatoxin testing in peanuts and peanut products; testing for USDA olive oil standard compliance; and, determination of citrus adulteration. These laboratory programs are non-regulatory and analyses and testing services are performed on a fee-for-service basis.
