Communication Systems

DFSR Broadcast System - State Advisory Fax and Email System (SAFES)

DFSR's Nationwide Broadcast System utilized to communicate FDA Emergency/Priority Messages/Alerts etc. to specific DFSR client program groups, e.g., State Boards of Pharmacy, State Health Commissioners, State Food Program Directors, etc. This System was successfully introduced early in 1997.

Information Dissemination

In addition to the information distributed by means of the DFSR Broadcast System (described above), a wide range of information is selected and mailed through the DFSR's mailing lists to state, local, other Federal, and industry personnel. The information covers a broad range of scientific, technical, and administrative items. Some items are selected because of their subject matter and mailed to categories of officials such as "Food Program Directors", "Drug Program Directors", "State Boards of Pharmacy", etc., because of the program area they regulate. Other items, such as manuals like the Compliance Policy Guides Manual, the Investigations Operations Manual, etc., are mailed to lists of addressees who have asked for the item. With the exception of the Directory of State Officials, the mailing lists are restricted to state and local regulatory officials performing an FDA related function.

Questions on these DFSR programs should be sent to dfsr@fda.hhs.gov
