Brenda Dann-Messier, assistant secretary for vocational and adult education, will give keynote remarks at the California Community College Association for Occupational Education conference, “Doing What Matters for Jobs and the Economy,” at 8:30 a.m. PT, on Thursday, Oct. 18, in Long Beach, Calif.

Dann-Messier will discuss the Obama administration’s blueprint for reauthorizing the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, which aims to ensure that the education system provides high-quality job-training opportunities that reduce skill shortages, spur business growth, encourage new investments and hires, and spark innovation and economic growth.
