Partnerships & Contracts

FDA has been contracting with state regulatory agencies for more than three decades. State contracts serve as a means to provide funding to support and leverage state regulatory program resources and enhance FDA’s inspectional coverage of food, feed, MQSA, medical Device and tissue residue inspection programs.  FDA is currently providing approximately $24 million dollars funding for state contracts and anticipates that the states will conduct approximately 24,000 inspections under these contracts.

DFSR provides annual funding to FDA districts and regions, through partnership agreements, for distribution to regulatory authorities in their jurisdictions to support partnership activities, including cooperative programs.  Examples of uses for this funding include: support of the retail program standards, travel costs for training or meetings, and various sampling programs.   This funding is separate from funding that is provided through the contracts and grants/cooperative agreements programs.
