MINNEAPOLIS—Recently in federal court, a 31-year-old nurse employed at a senior care assisted living facility was charged with stealing the narcotic oxycodone from patients. On July 15, 2011, Jeana Mary Turner, of Ramsey, was charged via an Information with one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

Allegedly, in March of 2011, Turner obtained oxycodone by removing it from sealed blister pack cards and replacing it with loratadine, commonly sold as Claritin.

If convicted, Turner faces a potential maximum penalty of four years in prison. All sentences will be determined by a federal district court judge. This case is the result of an investigation by the United States Food and Drug Administration-Office of Criminal Investigations and the Brooklyn Center Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly A. Svendsen.
