Hurricane Rafael will spread winds of tropical-storm-force across Bermuda this evening. However, sustained hurricane-force winds will not impact the island. Rafael is centered this evening about 130 miles south-southeast of Bermuda, moving toward the north-northeast at more than 25 mph, and will be passing east of Bermuda this evening. Maximum sustained winds are 85 mph - a Category One hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Slow weakening is forecast and Rafael could lose its tropical characteristics by late Wednesday or Thursday.
