Hurricane Rafael is located over the North Atlantic Ocean, centered this morning about 310 miles northeast of Bermuda. Maximum sustained winds are 80 mph, a Category One hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some weakening is forecast, and Rafael could lose its tropical characteristics later today. However, it will remain a powerful post-tropical cyclone for several days. It is moving toward the north-northeast at more than 30 mph, and a turn toward the northeast is expected later today.
