Nebraska

The American Folklife Center's collections include rich and unique recordings of Nebraska's native traditions. Represented in these recordings are Omaha and Ponca songs and flute melodies. The Center collaborated with the Omaha tribe in the production of an LP and a cassette containing samples of the early cylinder recordings of their music. From 1983 to 1986, Center staff documented the annual powwows of the Omaha tribe.
