June 21, 2006

Summary

On June 21, Denice Morris, a former driver’s license examiner for the Florida DMV and Allen Silberman of Miami FL, pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Miami to three felony counts of conspiring to produce fraudulent identification documents. Our investigation found that Morris used her position at the DMV to fraudulently process an application for a FL identification card for an individual who she believed to be an illegal alien (but who was actually a confidential government informant in the investigation) and that Silberman facilitated the scheme by providing a fraudulent social security number and immigration documents. The informant paid $2,500 for the fraudulent identification document. Sentencing for both Morris and Silberman is scheduled for August 30, 2006. This was a joint investigation with the FBI.
