U.S. goods and services trade with Israel totaled $40 billion in 2010 (latest data available). Exports totaled $15 billion; Imports totaled $25 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with Israel was $10 billion in 2010.

Israel is currently our 26th largest goods trading partner with $37 billion in total (two ways) goods trade during 2011. Goods exports totaled $14 billion; Goods imports totaled $23 billion. The U.S. goods trade deficit with Israel was $9 billion in 2011.

Trade in services with Israel (exports and imports) totaled $7.5 billion in 2010 (latest data available). Services exports were $3.5 billion; Services imports were $4.0 billion. The U.S. services trade deficit with Israel was $555 million in 2010.

Exports

Israel was the United States' 24th largest goods export market in 2011.

U.S. goods exports to Israel in 2011 were $14.0 billion, up 23.6% ($2.7 billion) from 2010, and up 80% from 2000. U.S. exports to Israel are up 536% from 1984 (Pre-FTA).

The top export categories (2-digit HS) in 2011 were: Precious Stones (diamonds) ($6.0 billion), Electrical Machinery ($1.4 billion), Machinery ($1.3 billion), Aircraft ($677 million), and Optic and Medical Instruments ($665 million).

U.S. exports of agricultural products to Israel totaled $875 million in 2011. Leading categories include: coarse grains ($170 million), wheat ($146 million), and feeds and fodders ($106 million).

U.S. exports of private commercial services* (i.e., excluding military and government) to Israel were $3.5 billion in 2010 (latest data available), 0.4% ($14 million) less than 2009, but 135% greater than 1994 levels. Other private services (business, professional, and technical services), travel and other transportation (port services) categories accounted for most of U.S. exports.

Imports

Israel was the United States' 23rd largest supplier of goods imports in 2011.

U.S. goods imports from Israel totaled $23.0 billion in 2011, a 9.7% increase ($2.0 billion) from 2010, and up 76% from 2000. U.S. imports from Israel are up 1,215% from 1984 (Pre-FTA). U.S. imports from Israel accounted for 1.0% of overall U.S. imports in 2011.

The five largest import categories in 2011 were: Precious Stones (diamonds) ($9.3 billion), Pharmaceutical Products ($5.6 billion), Electrical Machinery ($1.4 billion), Optic and Medical Instruments ($1.3 billion), and Machinery ($1.3 billion).

U.S. imports of agricultural products from Israel totaled $284 million in 2011. Leading categories include: snack foods (including chocolate) ($60 million), and processed fruit and vegetables ($25 million).

U.S. imports of private commercial services* (i.e., excluding military and government) were $4.0 billion in 2010 (latest data available), up 3.3% ($130 million) from 2009, and up 238% from 1994. Other private services (business, professional, and technical services), and travel categories led U.S. services imports from Israel.

Trade Balance

The U.S. goods trade deficit with Israel was $9.1 billion in 2011, a 6.4% decrease ($617 million) over 2010.

The United States has a services trade deficit of $555 million with Israel in 2010 (latest data available).
