PrescriptionsVA's prescription benefit ensures that our Veterans receive safe, effective, medically necessary medications that represent a good value. If you are being treated by a VA primary care provider, you will be provided all necessary medications for you treatment. Some Veterans may receive their VA medications free of charge based on their service-connected disabilities. While other, who do not have service-connected disabilities, are charged a copayment for each 30 day supply of medications VA provides. Refilling MedicationsThere are several ways you can refill your prescriptions. OnlineYou can now use the "My HealtheVet" Website to refill your VA prescriptions and view your VA prescription history online. To access Prescription Refill, you must be a registered user of My HealtheVet. If you are not a registered user, to register and learn how to use Prescription Refill, visit the My HealtheVet Web site. Mail OrderMedication refills can be requested by mailing the refill notice provided to you at the time of your original fill. Your order will be processed through our Pharmacy mail-out program. Routine refills cannot be processed at the Pharmacy windows (unless there are special circumstances). TelephoneSome VA Pharmacies have toll-free automated telephone refill systems. See the phone number listing for your local VA Facility. Filling Prescriptions from Non-VA ProvidersVA will provide medications that are prescribed by VA providers in conjunction with VA medical care. Medications are prescribed from an approved list of medications called a formulary. VA will fill prescriptions prescribed by a non-VA provider only if all of the following criteria are met:
Your VA health care provider is under no obligation to prescribe a medication recommended by a non-VA provider.
