The Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA) and Geauga County Transit received special recognition from the Ohio State Representatives for their work in coordinating human service transportation. PARTA and Geauga County Transit are recipients of a United We Ride/Mobility Services for All Americans project. The project specifically integrates Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for the purpose of connecting reservations, scheduling, dispatching, reporting and billing functions. The final design will provide the citizens of Portage and Geauga counties one convenient access point for all transportation services. They will also be able to keep the costs of coordination to a minimum by sharing access to transportation services among all who participate. They are hopeful that their final system design can be used as a model for other regions in the State of Ohio.
