The Near East Section of the African and Middle Eastern Division at the Library of Congress presents "Five Countries in 21 Days."
Speaker Biography: Nawal Kawar is originally from Jerusalem. Before coming to the United States to continue her education, she worked for the United Nations Relief and Welfare Agency and the Lutheran World Federation in Jerusalem. She came to the U.S. in 1966 and attended Southern Illinois University where she earned her bachelor's and master's in political science and international relations. Kawar worked at the Embassy of Kuwait's Office of Cultural Affairs as an academic counselor to Kuwaiti students. She also worked for the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and several different law firms. She joined the Library of Congress in 1991 and has worked for the Publishing Office, the Western European Acquisition Section and currently is a reference librarian for the Arab World in the Near East Section of the African and Middle Eastern Division.
