U.S. Education Officials to Address National Association of State Directors of Special Education in Sacramento

Deb Delisle, assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education, and Michael Yudin, acting assistant secretary for special education and rehabilitative services, will address the 74th annual conference of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education Tuesday, Oct. 23 in Sacramento, Calif. This year’s conference theme, “Building Supports for Successful Student Engagement,” will include a focus on issues and practices to help state leaders in their effort to ensure that all children achieve. Delisle and Yudin will participate in a session entitled, “Collaboration: A Partnership for Progress,” discussing the work of the offices that they lead.

Yudin heads the Education Department's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, which includes programs aimed at improving results and outcomes for the nation's infants, toddlers, children and adults with disabilities. In her role as assistant secretary for the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, Delisle directs, coordinates and recommends policy for programs designed to assist state and local education agencies with improving the achievement of elementary and secondary school students.
