Detail Description:

SCORE is a national network of nearly 14,000 entrepreneurs, business leaders and executives who volunteer as mentors to America's small businesses. SCORE has helped more than 8.5 million entrepreneurs nationwide by leveraging decades of expertise from seasoned business professionals to help entrepreneurs start businesses, grow companies and create jobs in local communities. With more than 370 offices throughout the country, SCORE matches you with a mentor whose personality, experience, and skills are a good fit for your business needs. Whether you are a start-up business or growing company, SCORE mentors offer free and confidential advice. As members of your community, SCORE mentors understand local business licensing rules, economic conditions and lending standards. SCORE also offers local small business workshops at modest fees on popular topics such as increasing sales, managing cash flow and marketing your business. You can count on SCORE as a trusted resource to offer in-depth mentoring, sound advice and guidance, and tools and resources that can help you succeed as a business owner. In fiscal year 2010, SCORE served over 400,000 clients through individual counseling, workshops and online sessions by leveraging the expertise and experience of nearly 14,000 business mentors. I am about to start a small business, I am going to start out of my home because I dont have a lot of start up capital but I would like to know how I would go about getting a small business loan or grant. What would be the down payment if it is a loan and what would be the qualifying criteria.

I have just started a new residential and commercial cleaning business. I will focus on state and federal contracts. I would like to help with the bidding process and how to get grants/awards.

If you are interested in contracting with the federal government and/or military, go to the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers: http://www.aptac-us.org/new/.
Select your state and the listing will give you the offices. Select the office closest to your location.

On a federal level after registering in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR), you can verify your registration by visiting www.ccr.gov and select “Dynamic Small Business Search” there you can use your DUNs or CAGE Code to pull up your profile. If you have a problem conducting the search call (1-800-827-5722) and they will assist you.

This is also something a PTAC can assist you with as well. You can find the cloest PTAC by going to: http://www.aptac-us.org/new/, selecting your state and choosing the Procurement Technical Assistance Center near you. If you are not currently working with a PTAC, it is highly recommended you contact them right away. They can assist you with many things about contracting with the government.

For grants, you can go to www.grants.gov. There just isn't an easy way to search for grants.

I am extremely young not even 20 yet and I want to start a business. I am extremely passionate about what I want to do and I want to show that age doesn't really matter. What steps should I take. I know what kind of business I would like which is a restaurant and I know what kind of restaurant I want to start. I guess I just want to know what is the next step.

I've been at the Florida Location for the Score mentors, the guy left to schedule, literally killed my Entrepreneur spirit. He definitely did not wanted to be there.OR do not want to help. He did not offer information to start a business he said that without me having any money, I cannot start a business so, I should stick to my job. To be honest I am fully capable to manage a Business if you see my resume, my business to be have educated from state University and experience for more than 5 years, Please don't turn us down, our business is constructed basically to help small business entrepreneurs like us to shine with the technology tools, including training, we need little. Not too much!!! I pitch it. I know he was interested, because he light up when I was talking to him, although we ask me how much money do I have and I told him none because all I had for it, I've lost it because I been working for Companies that at the very end I discover fraud all the way.and I have a strong ethical values, that's why I studied. Please Help me and my crew, we are not expensive but we are hardworking individuals who wants to shine and keep leading this country to shine as the MEGA ROCK STAR IT IS!!!!! KEEP THE GOD FAITH!!!
