Visit the Veterans Transportation Service website. Click here if you need a ride.VA Salt Lake City Health Care System Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) along with the Utah Disabled American Veterans Volunteer Transportation Network (DAV/VTN) partnered to provide expanded transportation services to Veterans with special needs and Veterans who don’t have transportation to and from their outpatient appointments.  The new VTS routes will help Veterans from the Idaho Falls catchment area to the Salt Lake City VA and from the St. George Utah catchment area to the Salt Lake City VA.

VASLCHCS is one of the original four VA’s chosen to pilot this new special needs transportation program free of charge.  VTS programs similar to this are also going to be offered at 22 other VA’s and will be VA-wide by 2015.

Who’s Eligible?

All Veterans enrolled in VA Healthcare are eligible for the new transportation program but top priority will be given to Veterans with disabilities, wheel-chair bound, and cancer patients.

How do I schedule a ride?

Veterans can schedule transportation through their VA Primary Care Provider or by calling the DAV VTN/VTS offices at 801- 582-1565 or toll free at 800-613-4012 (Alex ext. 1027 or Heidi ext. 2003).  Note:  Transportation appointments must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance to ensure there is a seat reserved for you on the DAV VTN/VTS vans or buses.

Am I eligible for travel reimbursement while riding the DAV VTN/VTS vehicles?

Since VA is providing this service free of charge, you cannot collect travel pay if eligible on the days you ride the DAV VTN/VTS vehicles.

Should I tip the drivers?

No – All volunteer and paid drivers are prohibited from accepting tips for the service they provide on the DAV VTN/VTS vehicles as this is a service free of charge to veterans.
