AFC 1955/004: Sarah P. Jamali Recordings of Music of Iraq
Two 7-inch tapes of field recordings accessioned as "music of Iraq." The intent of this recording project, as stated in related correspondence, was to collect folk song, folklore, and folktales of Iraq, beginning in Baghdad, for the Archive of Folk Song. The collection includes correspondence dated 1951-1957, including an item from Ralph Solecki, who also used the recording equipment in Iraq, two items from Sarah Jamali, correspondence with the Rockefeller Foundation, and correspondence with various staff of the Library of Congress. AFC 1955/005: Ralph Solecki Recordings of Folk Music of Iraq
One 10-inch tape of field recordings of speech, solo unaccompanied singing, group singing, drums and wind instruments. The expedition planned to record in northern Iraq and the Iranian border area circa 1951 (before 1955). Recorded by Ralph Solecki of the Smithsonian Institution and George G. Cameron, University of Michigan Department of Near Eastern Studies. Collection includes correspondence from Solecki and Cameron, 1950-1951. (AFS 10,880) (LWO 2242) [catalog record]

Three-hundred and forty-four 7-inch tapes, 22 5-inch tapes and 1 3-inch tape of instrumentals and songs recorded in Africa, Europe, Far East, Latin America, Middle East, Near East, North America, South America, and Southeast Asia by Laura Boulton, 1949-61. The collection includes 1/3 linear inch of articles, correspondence, and lists.

AFS 18,246: One tape containing (1a) "Hata" male solo, male, female chorus, instruments; (1b) male solo clapping and calls, chorus dance; (2) drum, flute and strings, female solo, and chorus; (3) instruments and clapping, and (4) orchestra, male solo, chorus. Recorded in Baghdad, 1956.

AFS 18,248: One tape containing (1) male solo, instruments; (2) male solo; (3) orchestra - tabla[?], female, male unison chorus. Recorded in Baghdad, 1956.
