AFS 12,079: R.F. Shaeffer / African Songs Recorded in Nuamupa, Tanzania (Tanganyika)
One 7-inch tape of African songs sung in Swahili: a young boy with guitar and scraping a coin on a bottle. Recorded in Namupa, Tanganyika, October 16, 1963 by the son of Rudolph F. Schaefer. The collection includes 3 pages of correspondence and notes. (15 minutes)

In the United States, locations include Beacon, New York; Circle Pines, Michigan; Hamilton, Ohio; Huntsville, Texas; Los Angeles, California; Madison, Wisconsin; New York, New York; Newport, Rhode Island; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Washington, D.C., among others. The collection includes 3 bamboo flutes.
